Care of the Self - Healthy Lifestyle Residential

Following the successful conduct of this course for Veterans Affairs over the past seven years, HEAS are now promoting and accepting nominations for their Healthy Lifestyles Program - Roger and Michele Peters, the primary facilitators, are both psychologists who have been married for over thirty years. They have developed this outstanding package for us. The Residential focuses on developing a healthy lifestyle, but is specifically designed for couples between the ages of 45-65 years of age.

In this course a range of psychological as well as physical health issues are examined and discussed, individually and in group activities, some of these include:

The course also explores a range of integrated medicines, including Chinese and Western Medicine. Emphasis is placed on diet and exercise, with qualified practitioners teaching the best and safest methods available. Participants will learn about self-esteem, goal setting and improving communication skills, all of which will focus on couples.

The course includes seven specialists in their field and provides participants with the most recent and up to date information available.

Aim and Objectives

The Primary aim of the course is to assist couples, communicate better, develop strategies for taking better care of themselves while enjoying the resort style atmosphere and accommodation that can only be rated as being outstanding. This is not a health camp!

Costs

The minimum number of couples are 8 and maximum number of 11. The cost per couple is $TBA. This is outstanding value, $TBA per day per person and includes: Four nights accommodation, all meals, tuition and teaching material for 5 days as well as Roger Peters' latest book - "A Wish Before Dying".

Course Outcomes

Couples will develop better skills for taking care of themselves and each other. Couples will learn to understand their partner better and thus improve their relationship. While not marriage counselling or even marriage encounter the course aims to build on good marriages and makes them better. It explores new advances in medicine and health more generally. Participants will come away from the course with a better focus, improved goal setting strategies and motivation.

Follow-up

The course also includes the opportunity for a 6 week-follow up. This is conducted over a single weekend and builds on the knowledge acquired during the course while reinforcing and encouraging the change process.

Participants will come away having made new friends, many of which last well beyond the course itself - Call now to find the proposed schedule of courses for 2006 and beyond.
